The Kentucky Derby represents the very best in equestrian life. The first of the Triple Crown races, the derby inspires even non-racing enthusiasts to dress up, don hats and place a bet. High-end horse properties range in the millions, but horse lovers of all means flock to these 7 towns to ride, watch and live (if only vicariously) the equestrian life.
Luxequestrian, a site for luxury equine properties, compiled the “LuxeList of America’s Best Horse Areas”. Based on riding months, temperatures, culture, horse farm prices and ratings by Equestrian Quarterly, each town received a “Horsiness Index” with a top score of 9. We’ve also included the median single family home price (horse farm not included!) in case you want to live near all this horse action. Each town has its unique flair, and everyone has their own favorite, so to be fair we’ve listed them alphabetically (graphics from Luxequestrian):
